ACOHI Waste Management & Research Board - Its Vision & Mission for Hospitality Industry of India & Asia and Its Impact on Industry, Nation and Mother Planet

The Asian Countries Chamber of Hospitality Industry (ACOHI) is a world’s first organization that aims to establish a culinary world of unity, business, technology exchange, bilateral relations, peace and brotherhood across Asia and the world. ACOHI has 37 independent boards that work on various aspects of the hospitality industry.

One of the boards of ACOHI is the ACOHI Waste Management & Research Board, which is dedicated to creating and implementing innovative solutions for waste management in the hospitality industry. Waste management is a crucial issue that affects the environment, health, economy and society. The hospitality industry generates a large amount of waste from food, packaging, paper, plastic, glass, metal, etc. that needs to be properly collected, segregated, treated and disposed of.

The ACOHI Waste Management & Research Board has a vision and mission to address this issue and make a positive difference for the hospitality industry of India and Asia and the nation and mother planet as a whole. The vision and mission are:

Vision – To create a zero-waste hospitality industry that minimizes waste generation, maximizes waste recovery and eliminates waste disposal.
Mission – To develop and promote best practices, technologies, policies and partnerships for waste management in the hospitality industry that are sustainable, cost-effective and socially responsible

The ACOHI Waste Management & Research Board has been working on several projects and initiatives to achieve its vision and mission. Some of the projects and initiatives are -

ACOHI Waste Audit Programme – This programme aims to conduct waste audits for hotels and restaurants to assess their current waste generation, composition, management and disposal practices and identify areas for improvement and potential savings.

ACOHI Waste Reduction Programme – This programme aims to provide guidance and support for hotels and restaurants to implement waste reduction strategies such as source reduction, reuse, recycling, composting, etc. that can reduce their waste generation by up to 80%.

ACOHI Waste Treatment Programme – This programme aims to provide solutions and technologies for hotels and restaurants to treat their organic waste on-site or off-site using methods such as biogas plants, vermicomposting units, biodigesters, etc. that can convert their waste into valuable resources such as biogas, compost, fertilizer, etc.

ACOHI Waste Disposal Programme – This programme aims to facilitate and monitor the proper disposal of residual waste from hotels and restaurants that cannot be reduced or treated using methods such as incineration, landfilling etc. that comply with environmental regulations and standards.

ACOHI Waste Education Programme – This programme aims to educate and raise awareness among hotel owners, managers and staff, guests and stakeholders about the importance and benefits of waste management and encourage them to adopt responsible waste practices.

The impact of these projects and initiatives on the hospitality industry of India and Asia and our mother planet is significant and positive. Some of the impacts are -

Environmental impact – The projects and initiatives help to reduce greenhouse gas emissions, conserve natural resources, prevent pollution, protect biodiversity and enhance ecological balance.

Economic impact – The projects and initiatives help to save costs, increase revenues, improve efficiency, create new markets and opportunities and enhance competitiveness for hotels and restaurants.

Social impact – The projects and initiatives help to improve public health, create employment, empower communities, foster social responsibility and improve quality of life for hoteliers, restaurateurs, staff, customers and stakeholders.
